Zab Judah Joshua Clottey
Last Saturday Zab Judah was on HBO Boxing After Dark to take on Joshua Clottey, a man who has gone this distance with Tony Margarito and was winning the first half of the fight.
The fight was exciting early, Zab Judah was displaying his natural athleticism, while Clottey was timing him with quick right hands. Then somewhere around 6 Zab Judah started to get tired and the clinch fest started.
Zab Judah has had a history of starting fast, then tiring out, except when he was knocked out by Kosta Tszyu. Then fight was starting to get boring and then it happened, a big cut was opened up on Zab Judahs eye lid from an obvious punch by Clottey.
Immediately the referee rules it a headbutt, despite what the video evidence shows, which gets to my point, why do refs automatically rule cuts a head butt if they don't see it? Why not wait five seconds, look at the replay, and then make your best judgment.
The doctor was called in and Zab said he couldn't see, and then failed a "how many fingers am I holding up test. Zab Judah seemed happy the fight was stopped because,
Clottey thought he was in for bad decision but the judges saw it his way and karma worked out for the best in boxing tonight.
However, the absolute lack of class showed by Zab Judah totally outweighs and replaces any respect he earned for how hard he fought that night, and he did fight hard against a tough guy. Zab Judah immedatly began complaining that it was a head butt, he should of won, he's been robbed, and so forth.
Thank god Max Kellerman went to Larry Merchant school and said "Hey Zab take a look at this video, it clearly shows it was a punch that caused the cut". The look on Zab Judah's face was price less, he spent 3-4 seconds trying to think of some excuse and then shouted back that a head but caused a nic and then punch opened it up more.
Right Zab, maybe in your make believe world. This would of all been fine but Judah went on acting like he won, standing on the ropes, shouting out like he is some kind of warrior.
99% of Boxers, MMA fighters, would be apologizing to the fans, not acting like they won after they were the ones that got cut from and obvious punch.
News flash zab Judah, you are hated by 99% of Boxing fans. It's not just this one incident, you never know what will happen at a Zab Judah fight.
When he was knocked out and made to dance by Kosta Tszyu, he charged at referee Jay nady trying to choke him, throw a stool at him, and cause a riot in the ring.
When he was about to get knocked out by Floyd Mayweather, He threw a Low Blow, Rabbit punch combo, and then started a all out riot in the ring.
My question is, why is HBO still showing this thug fight? He is nothing more than a thug, and doesn't even deserve a shot in the WWF. He is bad for boxing, bad for sports in general, and a horrible role model. Top that off with he has wasted his natural athleticism so he isn't even a good fighter anymore. Send him to Wednesday night fights on fox sports, or the WWF please.
This guys special punch in Fight Night Round 4 Video game should be a Low Blow, Rabbit Punch, Riot Combo, with grenades, knives, guns, RPG's you name it. Sooner or later, someone is going to get hurt or killed at a Zab Judah fight.
NO MORE ZAB JUDAH FIGHTS.

Jim Lampley Cheerleading
Jim Lampley is the punch by punch commentator for HBO boxing. He is known for his exciting voice, and accurate real time announcing, but Jim Lampley's Cheerleading has reached new levels during the Miguel Cotto Tony Margarito fight on july 26th in Las Vegas.
It was evident during the second round. Tony Margarito started putting enormous pressure on Miguel Cotto, and Max Kellerman and Emanuel Stewart were calling it like it was, but Jim Lampley Couldn't stop talking about how great Miguel Cotto was doing.
It got worse from here. Miguel Cotto was boxing beautifully and winning rounds 1-3-4-5, but Jim Lampley was almost totally ignoring the pressure Margarito put on Cotto.
During round sixth was the worse. Jim Lampley was ignoring every body punch Margartio landed, and he landed a lot. Jim would start talking about how great Cotto was with his 1-2 combination while Margarito was landing vicious rights to the head of Cotto. If you werent a boxing fan glued to the images on the screen, you might believe the make believe Lampley was talking about.
In round 7 it was the worse. Margarito was nailed Cotto on the ropes for the past two rounds, all Jim Lampley could talk about was how flashy and great Miguel Cottos punches were, completely ignoring the fact they were 100% ineffective against the Mexican slugger, while Margarito's punches more were effective against Cotto.
HarlodLetterman who is the unofficial Judge of HBO always talked about clean effective punching. Miguel Cotto's punches were clean, but they were 100% ineffective. Tony Margarito's punches weren't as clean, but they 100% effective because they were backing up and hurting the Puerto Rico superstar.
At the end of the 7th round Jim Lampley must of been taking a break because he completely missed a huge left hook the rocked Miguel Cotto. Max Kellerman The color commentator had to step in for jim and announce "Cotto is hurt, Cotto is hurt guys". From that point on things got worse still.
Lampley throughout the fight talked about how it was audacious to think Miguel Cotto couldn't last against Tony Margarito, after Max Kellerman and Emanuel Stewart mentioned that Cotto can't go at this pace for every because of the constant pressure and punching power of Margarito. Every fight fan in the world knew Cotto might not be able to handle the pressure, Jim was obviously in ridiculous la la land.
Cotto used his legs to survive the 8th and 9th, he might of won the 9th it was close. But Jim again has been ignoring Margarito's obvious more effective punches.
He had the nerve to say "Margarito Hasn't landed a effective Punch in two rounds", at the end of the 9th round. Yeah sure Jim, that's why Cotto has been fighting off the ropes for the past 4 rounds and Margarito has been nailing him with body shots, uppercuts, right hands, and left hooks. Cotto's nose and mouth were also bleeding.
Cotto was looking good half way through the tenth, but it was obvious he used up to much of his legs. Finally at this point Jim Lampley Came around and started calling it like we all saw it, not like HBO wanted to see it. Margarito rocked Cotto at the end of the 10th and knocked him out in the 11th.
Why would Jim Lampley so obviously favor and have a bias for Margarito? He has done this in the past for Marco Antonio Barrera vs Juan Manuel Marquez.
My best answer, the higher ups at HBO told him to.
He probably had a sit down with the powers that be to try to really HYPE up Cotto throughout the fight because if Cotto won they would have a Oscar De La Hoya vs Miguel Cotto fight for DLH's last fight. If Margarito won then we know DLH would chicken out and fight Manny Pacquiao.
You see, DLH wants a size advantage for his last fight so he will win. Miguel Cotto is a natural Jr. Welterweight at 5'7. Oscar Dela Hoya is a natural welterweight at 5-11 147 lbs. Oscar knew he would have a much easier fight against cotto.
Tony Margarito is a natural 154 lb fighter fighting at 147, although he has been making 147 easy for years. Margarito is 5'11, with punching power in both hands, slow, but throws a lot of punches from every angle.
Obviously Oscar wants no part in being knocked out in his last fight, so he wants the natural smaller fighters he thinks he can win. In comes Manny Pacquiao. Manny Pacquiao is probably the pound for pound best fighter in the world, but he is small, so small he started out as a Fly Weight. He has power at lightweight, but it go up to welterweight and have any impact against the bigger De La Hoya.
So my opinion is, and it's just a opinion, HBO was hoping for a Miguel Cotto Vs Oscar De La Hoya fight. Peto Rico against a Mexican again. They remember the huge numbers Tito Trinidad Vs Oscar De La Hoya did, it set records for a non heavy weight fight.
So Jim Lampley was trying to hype up that fight as much as possible, robbing Tony Margarito of an outstanding performance against Miguel Cotto.
With that said, if Chicken De La Hoya goes ahead with a Manny Pacquiao fight, and HBO goes a long with it, you can be sure fans like me will be protesting in disgust of the shame De La Hoya is leaving the sport. His legacy will be ruined by this, and always be remember as a chicken for not fighting Tony Margarito.

Margarito Oscar De la Hoya
The only fight that makes sense right now is Oscar De La Hoya vs Tony Margarito, at welterweight. There has been serious talks about DLH fighting Manny Pacquiao which is ridiculous in my opinion.
Why go out fighting a guy who started as a fly weight and is seriously WAY smaller than you. DLH used to talk about fighting the best, legacy ect, and he wants his last fight to be a guy who compared to him is a midget? Manny Pacquiao is a pound for pound number 1 fighter in my opinion. But let's be honest here, he is just to small.
The fight that makes sense for vegas, for boxing, is Margarito. DLH was hoping Miguel Cotto would beat Margarito so he could have another huge puerto rico vs Mexican payday, and hopefully this time he would come out victorious. DLH knew the smaller Cotto at 5'7 a natural 140 lb jr. welter weight was beatable.
Tony Margarito proved he has the best chin in boxing by knocking out Miguel Cotto in the 11th round of their july 26 fight in Las vegas. He also proved he is the man at welterwieght and Pound for Pound fighter.
Floyd Mayweather? Who cares, I want battle of the mexicans.
Oscar Dela Hoya can out out saying he fought the best. he isn't to small for Margarito, having taken Hopkins best shots up until the 9th round in their fight, he is the better boxer, was game against Mayweather, and still has enough pop in his left hook to earn some respect.
Margarito proved he is open to the left hook against Cotto, De la Hoya is naturally bigger than cotto, at 5'11, he is more of Margarito's size. The perfect match up in my opinion.
Dela Hoya also has better speed than Margarito, and besides Hopkins, Oscar has only had problems with speed guys, Mayweather, and Mosley.
Does Oscar have the legs to outlast Margarito for 12 rounds? Is his left hook still powerful enough to earn respect? He is bigger and more powerful than cotto after all.
I say let there be Oscar De La Hoya vs Tony Margarito. Battle of the Mexicans. If Margarito wins the Mexican torch is passed to the Tijuana Tornado. If Dela Hoya wins he proves he always fought the best and went out fighting the guy no one wanted to fight, and beat him. HIS LEGACY SEALED Forever.
Boxing Needs this fight, Las vegas needs this fight, De la Hoya Needs this fight, and we know Margarito wants this fight. MMA is stealing fans left and right. After a great fight between Cotto and Margarito, and De la Hoya's body looking good in his last fight, this is the fight to be made to spark life back into the sport, and DLH can create his superstar replacement.
Think of the promotion, showing Margarito vs cotto and DLH vs Steve Forbes or Mayweather on HBO leading up to the event. Mexicans everywhere will be talking about it, the fight will easily sell out in Las Vegas, Mexico and everywhere else.
Manny Pacquiao DLH? Who cares! Let Pacquiao fight Cotto, Hatton, and even JMM again.
Boxing needs this fight, DLH going out with a bang, and passing on the torch to another legend, Margarito.

Margarito Cotto Round by Round Review
Tony Margarito vs Miguel Cotto was a huge fight fan favorite coming into the summer of 08. This was labeled as an all out violent war and true to the marketing it lived up to it.
Round 1: was all Cotto. He controlled the distance with his lightning jab, and superb boxing ability. The question remained though how long until Margarito opens the can of pressure he has waiting for cotto.
C10 M 9
Round 2: The question from the last round is answered. Tony Margarito is applying tramendious pressure on Miguel Cotto. Cotto Is relying on his legs to move away from Margarito's hard body punches as well as uppercuts. Margarito threw well over 100 punches this round, and as Emanuel Stewart Said, Margarito is throwing punches from every angle.
C 9 M 10
Round3: Cotto Found his distance again. Cheerleading by Jim Lampley is becoming not only obvious but annoying in cotto's favor. Max Kellerman, and Emanuel Stewart are calling it like they see it, Cotto boxing great but how long can he escape the pressure of Margarito. Jim lampley is calling it like he is miguel cotto's number one fan.
C 10 M 9
Round4: Cotto is boxing beautiful, but Margarito is putting a lot of pressure on Cotto. Every time Cotto lands a huge punch and steps away, Margarito chases him down like he is jogging or running after him. It's obvious at this point Margarito is the bigger man and Cotto has nothing in his arsenal that can hurt him.
C 10 M 9
Round5: Margarito has been able to find Cotto with the right hand for the past two rounds. Cotto is using his legs a lot to land a big punch but then move away. Cotto is fighting off the ropes and running away. Cotto is still landing the more cleaner shots, but Margarito's shots are becoming more effective. Cotto has respect for Margarito's Power. Margarito late flurry to close the round. Close round.
C 10 M 9
Round 6: Fight has the feeling it could change momentum for Margarito at any time. Cotto continues to fight off the ropes, Margarito landing huge body punches. Cotto eating big upper cuts, right hands, body shops while on the ropes. Margarito has zero respect for Cotto's power. Cotto lands flashy shots, but eats harder shots in the corner and ropes. Margarito continues to run down cotto. Margartio big flurry of uppercuts as he traps Cotto in corner to close out the round. Jim Lampley Cheer leading that Cotto is blocking all the shots, unreal.
C 9 M 10
Round 7: Margarito starts where he left off, nailing cotto while he leans on the ropes with big body shots, uppercuts, and right hands. Margarito lands huge right hand, HBO crew ignores it, UNBELIEVABLE the bias of this announcing tonight. Jim Lampley must be taking a break, he totally misses Margarito hurting cotto with a big short left hook while cotto is on the ropes. Max Kellerman had to step in and announce it after the fact. Cotto hangs on with nose bleeding badly. Margarito Dominating. Cotto is fighting back using his legs, but Margarito is continuing to jog him down. Cotto fights back as round closes, but Margarito has him trapped in the corner and flurries to finish the round. Cotto's facial and body language is of a man who is glad that round is over. He tries to grab ropes but misses them.
C 9 M 10
Round 8: Cotto is bleeding from mouth and nose. Cotto uses his legs beautifully to avoid punishment but his punches are not effective in slowing down Margarito. Margarito is landing the harder more effective punches. The momentum of the fight has changed in Margarito's favor. Margarito has a unbelievable chin.
C 9 M 10
Round 9: Cotto is using his legs to much. Cotto isn't comfortable in there, Margarito wants to fight. Cotto is still boxing great and moving, but how long will his legs last? Margarito is chasing him down in a running/jogging like fashion. Cotto is now sitting on the ropes, Stewart says next stop is the floor. Cotto might have boxed enough to win the round, but his punches have no effect on Margairto, where as Margarito's punches have an effect on cotto.
C 10 M 9
Round 10: Cotto's Legs are betraying him. Cotto boxes great for the first half of the round, and then his legs wear out. The body work done by Margarito in the earlier rounds have him slowing down. Cotto is hurt while on the ropes with 10 seconds left by a Margarito Flurry. He's about to go down but with a few seconds left he is saved by the bell. Cotto goes to the corner with hands on ropes and head down, he looks like he is done.
C 9 M 10
Round 11: Cotto's legs are gone. He can't escape the pressure from Margarito any more. He can stand and fight or be knocked out. To his credit he is fighting back, but his shots have no effect on the iron jaw Margarito. Margarito is head hunting down, his weapon of choice the left uppercut. Left hook huts cotto on the ropes. Margarito is landing shots from every angle. Short left uppcut lands right on the button of Cotto's chin. Cotto takes a knee as Margarito tries to flurry.
Cotto stand right back up, his face bloody and beaten. To his credit he fights back throwing punches. Hurt again and Margarito touching him with the left uppercut. After a clinch cotto moves away, Margarito jogs him down and Cotto collapses in the corner without a shot being landed. His legs are done, he has nothing else, and his corner throws in the towel.
KNOCKOUT
Great fight, both guys fought hard, props to Cotto for hanging in there as long as he could, and to Margarito for having an iron jaw and having to put up with Jim Lampley's Obviously bias for Cotto.
